Arabic Numeral System
A lot of people write me because they want more information about arabic numeral system. This is the most used system after western system. Some countries use western and arabic system so it's easy to identify the coins... however others ones don't use western so it's more difficult to identify them.
The system
The only difference between Western and Arabic system is the number. The way of writing a number and everything else is the same than our system. So it's really easy to indentify these coins even you don't know anything about language. You just have to memorize the following number and everything will be ok.
If you want to write an arabic number, you do exactly the same thing than if you want to write a western number.

You can now identify denomination and year of any arabic coins. You must not forget about Arabic Date System. Arabs countries don't have the same system of year than us, we are in 2001, they are in 1421. In some countries, they just use this system for their coins. So it is possible you have a coin dated 1380 or 1415.
